Short-term trading (also called scalping), when done properly, offers a unique opportunity to engage in more frequent Forex trading, but it can\u2019t be emphasized strongly enough, that this style of trading is no different than any other style: patience and discipline are vital to success. Scalping does NOT mean jumping in and out of the market all day long \u2013 a sure path to ruin.<\/p>\n

Without strict rules and guidelines, it will be near impossible to maintain consistency with any trading style, and it\u2019s no different with short-term trading. The goal is to make valid trade setups as objective as possible, notwithstanding the fact that trading is never 100% objective. You can turn a scalp into a longer-term trade when you\u2019re trading with the higher time frame trend. This can result in huge moves, and very large reward to risk trades.<\/p>\n

Learning patterns and theory is one thing. But when it comes to actually trading, one of the biggest challenges for aspiring traders is being able to pick out valid trades in real time. No worries, because the library of short-term trading videos will clearly show what valid trades look like so that you can become proficient at finding them yourself, in a relatively short period of time. It is then a “rinse and repeat” process.<\/p>\n

What kind of experience should I have?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

You should be more on the experienced side: Familiar with candlestick charts and you should know how to use your dealing platform efficiently.<\/p>\n

What if I don\u2019t live in the NY time zone while Vic is in the room?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Through the videos of trades that are going to be available, together with the rules of how to trade the various patterns, you will be able to learn these setups, as they are all relatively objective. Of course Vic will answer questions in the room (or by email) as they come up.<\/p>\n

What kind of risk do you take on with each trade?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We always suggest no more than 0.5% risk of your account. Obviously what you do is up to you, but we are very strict on risk management, trade management and capital preservation.<\/p>\n

Do I need to be at my computer full time?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Obviously short-term trading requires a more hands-on approach. However there is usually no panic in getting in to these trades, with lots of time to enter once the trade sets up. Use trade alerts so that you\u2019ll know if\/when you need to pay attention, and this will greatly reduce the time needed to watch everything.<\/p>\n

What size account should I have to start with?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Not big! One of the great things about scalping is that, because the pip risks are going to be small (generally 10 \u2013 20 pips, depending on individual pair volatility), you can start with a very small account, which is exactly what we recommend anyway. Trading just a couple of micro lots at first will give you the confidence needed to ramp up your account size when it\u2019s appropriate to do so.<\/p>\n
