Joseph Granville, a stock veteran, says the current market downturn may be the worst ever, and is far from over. “We’re in a crash,” he said. “This is the worst I’ve seen, and I’ve studied every bit of history all my life.” He doesn’t see an end to the current market slump until some time in 2009, and figures it will get a lot worse before it gets better.
Robert Stovall, another stock veteran, wonders if the contagion will spread, given that confidence is at a low ebb. He is concerned about the stability of the whole financial system.
