Euro Zone’s economy remains sound April 09/08

The European Central Bank has not changed its main lending rate since last June. It remains at four percent. Bank President Jean-Claude Trichet was recently quoted as saying the euro zone’s fundamentals are sound, and that there is no credit crunch. He said that no one on the governing council has sought either a rate cut or a rate hike.
This is euro-bullish, and one of the reasons for the loftiness of the euro – not to mention the plight of the greenback. Interest rates help shape currency movements, so be sure to be abreast of developments on that front, as part of your forex trading strategies.
