If the U.S. economic weakness persists, and starts to affect Canadian growth vis-à-vis trade performance, the Canadian dollar (loonie) could continue to soften as well, especially against overseas currencies.
The housing fallout in the U.S. is not good news for Canada, given the reduction in demand for building materials. Prices for such products are down on the year.
